Book: Alex Rider: Stormbreaker
Author: Anthony Horowitz
My Thoughts:
Alex rider is an orphan who has grown up with his uncle, Ian Rider. Ian works for Royal & General, a bank. One night, Ian is killed in a car crash. All Ian Rider’s money and property is now controlled by Ian’s employer. However, Royal & General is not a bank; it is the Secret Operations Division of MI6.
Herod Sayle has invented a new computer, named Stormbreaker. It is amazing for learning any subject. He is planning to give a Stormbreaker to each school in Brittan. MI6 want to investigate this because they are suspicious about Herod Sayle’s intentions. So, MI6 send Ian Rider to investigate. He finds out some vital information, but is ambushed by Yassen Gregorovich, a contract killer. Alan Blunt, the head of the Secret Operations Division of MI6, now sends Alex to investigate further.
Alex goes under the name of Felix, a boy that won a competition that allowed him to go to Sayle Enterprises and test a Stormbreaker. He finds out that the Stormbreakers are filled with a deadly vapor of smallpox, which is genetically modified so it can kill a person in just under 10 hours. But, suddenly, he is an inch away from being eaten by a giant octopus. Alex uses a cream, which burns metal, to burn the rivets that held together the tank. Alex survives. He hops onto a plane and destroys the trigger that can start up the Stormbreakers. He is thanked profusely by the Prime Minister.
I really liked this book because there was so much action and gripping cliff hangers. I enjoyed this book a ton, and plan to read the next book in the series.
