Where am I from?

Where am I from?

I am from the digital world,
A chaotic monochrome soup,
Yet so lively, so bright …

A whirring world, far too fast,
Every attraction, longer than the last,
Chatting with friends, thousands of miles away,
The internet will send my message, it will never delay,
From DIY tutorials to movie conspiracies,
From gaming and parodies, to brownie recipes,
I am from the social media,
An ever-growing encyclopedia.

Using our browsing data and twitter feed,
Personalized ads, guaranteed,
4G gives us freedom, internet on the go,
Never miss another episode, of our favourite show,
Taking focus away from our reality,
Its gaudy costume covers its brutality,
I am from the Infobahn,
I was with it since it began.

Is it our savior? Should we be in debt?
“Hahaha” says the Internet,
“What can these measly beings do?
“They need me for company, to know who’s who,
“They built their own alpha, their own demise,
“Just one of their decisions that was definitely not wise,
“These poor little things, they dug their own grave,
“They are my workers, and their time, my slave!”

Respect

Money in our cities, money in our towns.

Money everywhere, it’s bringing us down.

All these corporate clowns…

Exploiting nature reserves for fresh printed cash,

They cut down nature with a bash.

They say for money they strive,

But shouldn’t we be content and thrive?

We know these plants are alive!

Killing animals is their occupation,

They turn the creatures into decoration,

Burning down trees for a living,

Yet they pray for nature at Thanksgiving?

Respecting the world is our duty,

We must bring back it’s beauty.

We can’t postpone this much longer,

We have to get stronger,

And clear this huge mess –

A stain on nature’s special dress.

The Victim

It was a wild, dark, stormy night. But no rain could penetrate through the thick canopy; nor could the moonlight. Not even satallite rays could go through. For that reason, no one could see what was happening in the jungle. No one dared to go in, the jungle was too big and had many poisonous insects. This became the perfect training ground for Lioness.

Lioness was an agency which did mainly two things – smuggle all sorts of goods through countries, and assassinate people. Anything you wanted from cocaine to plastic explosives was sold by Lioness. They were brutal and leathal, and only wanted one thing: money. They had recently blown up a powerplant somewhere as a training drill. They didn’t care how many people they killed, how much harm they caused, as long as they got the money. “Give us the money, we’ll do what you want!” General Alberol had once said.

Blam! Blam! Blam! A chirping of birds came from the heart of the forest, then stopped. A young boy, only 9 years old, had shot his first target with a foreign made AK-47. He was another victim of the Lioness’s ‘youth training’ program. He was exploited from his family when he was only two years old. The boy was told that pistols were toys and killing people was a game. Anyone put through the Lioness’s ‘youth training’ would not lose a night’s sleep over firing a real bullet into live flesh and bone. “This is the best toy in the world!” The boy had said, when he was six, while firing a hundred bullets into the jungle, killing hundreds of animals.

The victim was ready, to claim victims. It was wild, dark, stormy …

100wc#18 Season 3 -The Gadget

There was a deafening silence after the war of thunder and lightning. The orange sky became darker and darker as minutes passed.

Despite the hazards of thunder and lightning, Melton was still swimming. He was trying out his new gadget – a t-shirt, a pair of track pants, and a helmet. These items of clothing were very special. They could be worn as day clothes or pyjamas. In fact, they could be worn all day, every day. The clothes could clean themselves and were fire-proof and could repel electricity.

As Melton swam, a bolt of lightning had zapped him. He barely felt anything, only a light tap on the shoulder.

Prompt: Words -Silence   Orange    Thunder    Pyjamas    Swam”

100wc#16 Season 3 – The last ‘Baaa’

It stalked its prey. It crept up behind the sheep. It sauntered just a few feet behind its evening meal. The sheep was oblivious. He just grazed the grass he came upon. The sheep never found out the truth – who killed it, why it killed him. One moment it was there, the next it was gone; no life could have been left in it after the tiger ripped it apart. The sheep didn’t feel anything. It never got hurt. It just uttered its last ‘Baaa’ as if it were a prayer, then, suddenly, it was pounced upon by the vicious tiger.

Prompt: Word – … suddenly…

100wc#14 Season 3 – Gladiator Arena

400 AD

I went to battle again today. This match could be the turning point in my career as a gladiator. Petrifying!
The crucial ‘Weapon Picking Ceremony’ was about to begin. The manager wheeled a big box to the center of the arena and asked me to pick my weapon first. I put my hand in the box and felt a cold and sharp blade. I was praying that it would be lethal. I grabbed it and pulled it out of the box. The audience gasped – it was a massive gladius, possibly the best weapon available. It was a sign that I was destined for glory.

Prompt – phrase “I put my hand in the box and felt…”

100wc#12 Season 3 – The Drone Race

After having a row with my brother, I was eating some chips and a sweet when I saw that there was a drone racing competition on TV. I immediately chose which candidate I would support. I watched the guy that I was supporting press some buttons on his remote-control. 3…2…1…Let the Race Begin. A whirring sound came from the rotors. I needed to know who was going to win! As I watched the drones fly up in the air, I lost count of how many chips I was eating. Soon I realized that I had eaten a whole ‘Family Size’ pack. I was feeling queasy, so I decided to lie down. Quickly, I fell asleep and never knew who won the race.

Prompt: “Words – Row, chips, sweet, fly, lie”

100wc#11 Season 3 – The Sudden Commander

We were at the battlefield, receiving orders from HQ. As they were telling us some vital information about the opponent, a faint crackle came from our walkie talkie and it went dead. When the connection broke we were petrified. We were all used to having orders! I took up the lead since I was the most experienced in our group. I dispatched a platoon to man the missile launchers and another to erect defensive barricades. I and a few others fought on the front line. As sweat poured from our faces, we fought for what we were told to fight for – victory.

100wc#6 Season 3 – The Criminal Mastermind

CAT1509, a master criminal, was one of the most wanted robbers in the world. This criminal mastermind has robbed more than 20 banks, and stolen a massive sum of $15 million.

CAT1509 was messaging her side kick, Boler, in a very well encrypted code. She was planning to rob a massive bank.

A government spy intercepted this message. He used a robot to decrypt the code. The authorities were informed and under-cover cops were placed at the bank, waiting.

CAT1509 walked into the bank.

“You’re under arrest!” shouted a police officer, having identified her. She was shocked to see a whole SWAT team holding her on gunpoint!

Prompt: phrase – “She was shocked to see”

100wc#5 Season 3 – The Engulfing Flames

Red flames engulfed the building as the alarm yelled. A large truck screeched around the bend and halted. A dozen firemen flew from the truck and soared above the building. They turned on their hoses and jets of water smashed onto the destructive flames.

Suddenly, there was an explosion, sending glass and concrete high up into the sky. A fireman was hit and plummeted into the lake. The firefighters called for back-up, and they tried, in vain, to extinguish the fire. Gallons of water were dumped onto the dancing flames, yet there was no change – no change to the misery.
