Author: Anthony Horowitz
My thoughts:
Sir Damian Cray is a peace activist, a socialist, an environmentalist and a former world-famous pop-star. Cray looks like a hero, but behind the scenes he is responsible for many murders; one instance is when he didn’t want a Japanese ship to kill whales, so he locked them in their own deep freezer.
Cray wants to destroy drugs. He believes that if you blow-up all the worlds poppy fields, heroin factories, and cocaine refineries, there won’t be any more drugs to sell. To do this he will go to any extent. Cray creates a company called CST (Cray Software Technology), which is supposedly making a video-game called Game- slayer. What no one knows is that the Game-slayer is just a cover up. What they actually are doing is hacking into the American nuclear program. Cray plans to launch 25 missiles to different drug-producing nations worldwide.
Alex Rider, a teenage superspy, suspects something is wrong. He goes to MI6, but they won’t listen. So he goes by himself and investigates. He figures out Cray’s plan, and steals a flash drive, that gives Cray all the codes to launch the missiles. Alex’s friend, Sabina, is kidnapped by Cray, and Alex is threatened to give the flash drive back, or else Cray will kill his friend. Alex returns it.
Cray takes Alex and Sabina and hijacks the Air-force One with the help of his trusty guards. But while taking off, Alex pushes Cray out of the door and Cray is shredded by the engine. Sabina ungently goes up to the control center, from where Cray has already launched the devastating nuclear the missiles, and blew them up. The world was saved from a tragedy, a nuclear fallout, and who knows what else?
